Photographe indépendant depuis 20 ans, d’origine anglaise et maintenant établi à Nantes, je travaille en France et à l’étranger en reportage mariage, documentaire social, illustration et tourisme. J’enseigne par ailleurs la photographie dans une école supérieure de communication visuelle.
Mon regard photographique s’est nourri des oeuvres des géants de l’image de rue, des Cartier Bresson, Winogrand et Erwitt, qui m’ont appris à marier puissance visuelle, harmonie de composition, charge émotionnelle sans oublier l’humour.
Quand je photographie un mariage, c’est ce même regard curieux qui me donne un sens intuitif de l’insolite. Mes images apparaissent comme un reflet tant extérieur qu’intérieur d’un extraordinaire moment de vie dans sa réalité.
Originally from London and now settled in France with my family, you could define my photographic style as a marriage of British humour and French aesthetics!
Inspired by the immediacy of street photography, my approach to picture-making is based on the art of observation and instinctive reaction. I love the ability of the still image to transform everyday mundane reality into a moment of pure visual impact. I compose within the photographic frame those juxtapositions that provide a sense of intrigue, or capture an offbeat mood.
As a wedding photojournalist, it’s the same intuitive grasp of the unusual, dosed with a touch of wit, that sparks my vision, capturing those ephemeral scenes that encapsulate the energy and emotion of a once in a lifetime experience.
Aside from commissioned work, I pursue my own artistic projects and teach photography to graphic design students.
